“Bling
Bling To The Head”
Lance Strongheart Self-proclaimed world citizen, with stylized appearance of an urban hipster, Lance Strongheart ("that's more of mantra than a name") descends on San Francisco this September for a hyper eclectic solo show at The Shooting Gallery. Lance brings with him a unique approach to art, music and commerce. His latest collection of art features fashion inspired sculptures as part of his installation that includes a runway show from his clothing label GFW (Generic Fashion Whore) entitled Trash Couture as well as the release of his new music video Bling Bling to the Head. Lance brings the window display to the gallery. Inspired by contemporary mall
culture and American consumerism, Lance creates an environment that exits
somewhere between posh boutique and contemporary art gallery. It is in
this "space between" that one begins to question the line between
art and commerce. "Art is illusion and fashion is perception. I'm
all about mixing and matching, from the innovative to the cliché,
it's all good," says Lance. Drawing heavily upon pop culture and
deconstructionalism, Lance Strongheart produces a show layered in satire
and profundity bound to intrigue even the most cynical of viewers.
