Greg Gossel Heats Up the Summer

It’s been a busy summer for Greg Gossel, as his massive 60 piece show at The Shooting Gallery just came down and a brand new show is already up. Last Saturday marked the opening of Get Over It, a group show including Greg Lamarche and Steve Powers at Toronto’s Show & Tell Gallery.

We appreciate the diversity in Greg Gossel’s work, as each show is entirely unique in subject matter yet consistent in style. Browse the links below for further coverage of Greg’s summer projects.

"Face Flora" by Kevin E. Taylor

Amid preparation for his upcoming Shooting Gallery show, Kevin E. Taylor is also participating in a LA group show that opened last Saturday. POVevolving Gallery‘s “One Year Anniversary Exhibition” runs through August 5th, where you can see this new piece by Kevin Taylor alongside works by Alexis Mackenzie, Amy Casey, Clark Goolsby, and more.

We can’t wait to discover more new works by Kevin E. Taylor in his upcoming show, Terrestrial Syndrome, opening this August at The Shooting Gallery.

Red Carpet: Mike Maxwell & Paul Chatem

Red Carpet

Such a a fantastic exhibition as Until the Whistle Blows could only be heralded by a festive opening reception. Last Saturday, Paul Chatem and Mike Maxwell were looking sharp and so were all the lively visitors of the night. Thank you to everyone who made it out!

The Steve Mac Stick Up

This Sunday I was walking down Hayes street when something caught my eye. Through the store window of Huf, a local skate boutique, I spotted none other than Steve MacDonald mid-installation on a vinyl cut window display for the Bicycle Film Festival. Be sure to walk through Hayes Valley to see this installation for yourself or check Ramblin Worker’s blog for the finished product.

We look forward to seeing what’s in store for Gallery Three this October with the opening of Ramblin Worker’s new show, Upstairs Is Where the Magic Happens.

Gallery Ghosts

A cold chill drafted through The Shooting Gallery today. As Mike Maxwell hung his pieces for Until the Whistle Blows, we could almost hear the distant churning of freight trains. Pete Dog snoozed through the afternoon while Mike accented the gallery with phantom-like silhouettes, creating a true ‘turn of the century’ experience. Feast your eyes on these snapshots and stop by tomorrow night from 7-11pm for the opening of Until the Whistle Blows.

Tick Tock

When Paul Chatem unpacked his new works today, we were amazed to find a network of functioning gears and cogs embedded within his paintings. The sound of wood creaking and the ticking of vintage clocks creates an installation rich in audio and visual textures; one that must be experienced in person. Here is a small peek of Until the Whistle Blows, opening tomorrow night from 7-11pm.

Lafe Eaves in the House

In the House

As of this week, Lafe Eaves‘ city biking has landed him on the stairs to Gallery Three. This annex space has become known for its ease of modification as artists paint the gallery to their own tune each month. Lafe deems the staircase most worthy of customization, creating a psychedelic portal into his upstairs world. Don’t miss the opening of And a Wolf Shall Devour the Sun this Saturday, July 11th to see what’s at the end of the tunnel.

18 Holes with Mike Maxwell

Artists draw influence from every aspect of their daily lives and 18 holes on the course is no exception. Sezio, knowing Mike Maxwell‘s avid golfer side, took advantage of some one on one time with the artist to ask about his upcoming show. See what Mike Maxwell has to say about “Until the Whistle Blows,” opening this Saturday, July 11th at The Shooting Gallery.
