Dark Art 3 at Zombicon

Dark Art

The zombie apocalypse is upon us, or so says Zombicon 2024. This annual event of Ft. Myers, Florida, includes a cozy gallery space for all those esoteric artists we love most. This year the exhibition Dark Art 3 is curated by Curse Mackey (remember him? Our April Draw Show might spark your memory) and will take place at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center.

Curse hit us up for a few contributions and we gladly answered with cryptic paintings by Kevin E. Taylor, Matthew Bone, Patrick Segui, C3, and Van Arno. Aside from artists working primarily in fine art, Dark Art 3 also called on musicians, filmmakers, comic book artists, and tattooists for their deepest and darkest. By opening its doors to these notables (such as Clive Barker, Marilyn Manson, Bob Tyrrell, and Chester Bennington of Linkin Park) Dark Art 3 will be anything but stale. The show runs from October 2-17, 2024 and only time will tell which artist is the creepiest of the creepy.

The silent auction will include hot rod-related artwork from all-star artists! All proceeds benefit the Bay Area Women’s & Children’s Center (www.bawcc.org). In the heart of San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood, the Bay Area Women’s and Children’s Center is a unique presence. In this multi-ethnic neighborhood, BAWCC focuses entirely on the needs and issues of low-income families, children, and women. BAWCC offers a variety of direct services that address immediate needs and assists with achieving long-term stability. BAWCC’s advocacy, planning and policy work on issues of low-income children and families has had a positive impact on the lives of thousands since we opened in 1981. BAWCC’s long-term projects have resulted in the creation of playgrounds, a recreation center, school, and family center.

Check out some of the art thats just arrived.

KMNDZ Coming to The Shooting Gallery

KMNDZ is zealously preparing for his upcoming show at The Shooting Gallery. In addition to our own postcard for this exhibition, he has created his own graphic representation of what’s to come. Below is KMNDZ’s custom flier for the show. We like his style.

Stay tuned for more from KMNDZ, C3, and Akira at The Shooting Gallery on October 10th.

Shooting Gallery in Clark Magazine

Inside this incredible Takashi Murakami cover of Clark Magazine, you will find a whole page dedicated to the one and only Shooting Gallery. Unfortunately, our French skills aren’t up to par but we imagine that Clark has good things to say.

Denim Has Patrick Segui Riveted

A note from Patrick Segui:
Just wanted to mail you a link to a modest blog I created about a month ago called “Riveted.” It’s about my long time passion for vintage clothing. Even if it might not be obvious at a first glance, I think those who know me will find it totally linked to my love for old objects with patina feel and a story behind them. Things that are always parts of my creation as an artist.
Well i hope you’ll enjoy it.
cheers
Patrick

Bryan Schnelle at Phone Booth Gallery

Untitled 1

Bryan Schnelle’s art is like no other and Phone Booth Gallery recognizes this. Although it normally functions as an online venue, Phone Booth went above and beyond for Schnelle by throwing him a party. To celebreate his new body of work, an opening reception sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon was held in Long Beach, CA on September 19th. Potar provided DJ goodness at the event, where 20 new works were hung on the walls and limited edition screen prints made their debut. Below is a window into Bryan’s process for creating Untitled:

Also, look out for Bryan Schnelle’s group show, Catch Your Death, alongside Skinner and Jesse Balmer opening this October at Double Punch Gallery. Word has it that a GNU snowboard design is also in works, and we couldn’t be happier for Schnelle.

Kevin Taylor in the House

In the House

We caught a few snapshots of Kevin E. Taylor installing his new show, Terrestrial Syndrome , at The Shooting Gallery this week. His new works carry with them a sense of calm and beauty combined with dark foreboding. Be sure to come by his opening on Saturday, September 12th, to see what we mean.
