Adam Caldwell recently opened his show Empty Room at the Shooting Gallery this past Saturday. The artist is known for his vertiginous compositions, which simultaneously expand and contract space. Drawing from a range of techniques, from classical figuration to abstract expressionism, the painter carefully explores the Cartesian duality of mind and body highlighted in the philosophical treatise De Prima Philosophia.
