Environment Design

Erik Otto is on the move.  He changed studio locations from 6th Street to the Mission, sold half his work the opening night of his solo exhibit on Divisidero, is planning for a show in Seattle, all while working on environment design project.

Erik’s designing the interior of a new frozen yogurt shop, serving all natural yogurt, in the bay area.  Seems these places are the new desert stop…no sugar, fresh fruit toppings, natural ingredients.  Images of Erik’s process below.

The Boogie Disease

Van Arno’s exhibit The Boogie Disease

Opening Reception: January 10, 2024 from 7-11 p.m.

“The Boogie Disease” re-examines pre-civil rights, African American southerners, who found a reprieve in creating a new form of folk art, which later dominated the second half of the 20th century. Apart from visual art Van‘s paintings are influenced by the original innovators of music. Most of the characters portrayed are from the 60’s and 70’s Blues era.  These paintings remind us of America’s fears in the past that “black music” was a danger to society. But as Arno reminds us, “the fear is as old as ragtime and as new as Lil Wayne.”

A new year of art starts January 10, from 7-11 p.m.
