Ben Frost has gotten international attention for his show See Inside Box For Details, which was on view last September at the Shooting Gallery. The Spanish magazine 20 Minutos wrote this article on why Frost loathes advertisement, since it always promises more than it truly delivers. Author, Helena Caldren, observes how Frost’s canvases appear to show benign and familiar imagery at first glance, but under closer scrutiny, they reveal a darker and more subversive message.

Hi Fructose magazine’s Jane Kenoyer recently got an inside look at Ferris Plock‘s sketchbook, which is filled with humorous cartoons that are both absurd and dignified. To Plock, his sketchbook acts as a vessel for releasing hilarious thoughts in order to focus on painting. Last Saturday, Ferris Plock opened his solo exhibit Carry On at the Shooting Gallery. The show features Plock’s engaging characters that are inspired by traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e prints. A number of pieces were embellished with gold leaf, as well as Plock’s signature kaleidoscopic palette. The artist has shown twice before at the Shooting Gallery with Just for One Day and Rest for the Wicked.
