Erik Otto Print Release: "The Voyage"

We are excited to welcome Erik Otto for a solo show at The Shooting Gallery this November, an event that we anticipate with a special print release.”The Voyage” is a quintessential Otto image, and we feel that it fits well with this excerpt of Erik’s artist statement:

“Through my artwork and installations, I am narrating an autobiographical story that depicts the struggle to connect my awakened state to the desires found within. Pulling from what builds me as well as what tries to destroy me, my goal is that through my work, I may find peace in creating and questioning my own existence.”

Kevin E. Taylor Releases "Punny Fages"

San Francisco based artist, Kevin E. Taylor, holds a special place in our hearts as the debut artist of Gallery Three. Today we perused his blog to check in on his recent endeavors- and yes, he’s busy. We enjoyed the mummified bears and omniscient jellyfish that adorn his new designs for Oakland based band, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, and we found ourselves laughing a little too hard at his “silly little book.” Punny Fages is hand screen printed in an edition of 100, taking puns to the next level with cheesy Jesus and Darth Nader. See the entire book here.

Kevin just finished a show at the Mission district boutique, Belljar, called “Stranger Things Have Happened.” We look forward to having him at The Shooting Gallery this November.

Adam Flores: Intro to Gallery Three

Gallery Three enjoyed a busy housewarming party this past Saturday at its new location in the annex space above White Walls. Adam Flores’ second solo show with Gallery Three served to usher in a new era for the gallery, and we are happy to now have White Walls, The Shooting Gallery, and Gallery Three all under one roof. Adam filled us in on the nitty gritty with his heartfelt “101.”

Intro to Shooting Gallery – 101

The DRAW Show curators, Curse Mackey and Erik Foss, have had a busy week. We gave them a break from the intensive hanging task in Shooting Gallery, asking only for a few words in exchange. Read on to see if the men behind DRAW Show know how to do their homework.

DRAW Show Shaping Up

In the last 24 hours, Shooting Gallery has undergone a massive face lift. Erik Foss and Curse Mackey have mounted hundreds of individual pieces, and there are yet more works on paper to come. With every piece that is unwrapped, we inspect the fine details or the casual strokes of each artist and we love their diverse styles. With over 300 works in total, this show merits a good hour or two of gallery perusing.

Adam Flores Brings Christmas In April

Adam has been working round the clock to to turn the White Walls annex into a new and improved Gallery Three. Coffee stains, crooked windmills and a real live (plastic) Christmas tree might possibly be up his sleeve. See what he’s been up to between class and pizza breaks.

Shooting Gallery Cameo: Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Zero"

Red lipstick and shiny black bangs recently graced the alleyway of White Walls and Shooting Gallery, owed to none other than miss Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She danced it up and flashed her killer leather jacket with the White Walls mural as her backdrop, all for the new music video “Zero.” We are proud to see such a sassy and stylin lady in our own little alley- and if we do say so ourselves, it looks good on ya Karen O.

Adam Flores Brings Gallery Three To the Block

Our very own Adam Flores ushers in a new Gallery Three show in its very new location. Now joining Shooting Gallery and White Walls on the block, Gallery Three is located in the annex space above White Walls at 835 Larkin.

Adam Flores has been using this annex as his studio space for the last year. Thus his new show, “Winter Warz,” is a true journey into the sweat and blood that has gone into his new body of work. With his blue Dickies covered in paint and his bill flipped up, I peeked over Adam’s shoulder to snap some preview shots.
