Don't Look At Me
Herakut’s paintings are sensuous, savage, and always remarkable for their powerful dualism. Akut’s photorealistic details play out against Hera’s expressive, more gestural, linework in canvases that seem poised to articulate stories of triumph and hardship. Humour and text weave their way into the work, with examples like “Payback’s a Bitch,” featuring the face of a grimacing pug whose eyes shine like just polished glass.
In addition to their emotionally-charged acrylic and spray paint works on canvas, DON’T LOOK AT ME will feature a 6×10 ft. canvas, one of the artists’ largest to date, suspended from the ceiling as well as a large scale installation to transform a portion of the gallery into a dreamlike wonder.
