Zone de Confusion

September 14 - October 05, 2024

Shooting Gallery is pleased to present Zone de Confusion, featuring all hand-cut stencil work by famed street artist C215. The opening reception will be September 14th from 7 to 11pm with the exhibition free and open to the public for viewing through October 5, 2024.

Paris-based C215, has maintained a whirlwind of creative output since he last honored San Francisco with a solo show in 2024. The prolific and well-traveled artist has been spreading his radiantly colorful images further around the world with recent visits to Vitry, France; Bristol, UK; Bratislava, Slovakia; Oslo, Norway and Barcelona, Spain.

In Zone de Confusion, the scope of C215’s creative focus is explored through subjects both familiar and never before seen. Working mainly on vintage portfolios and metal signs, C215 incorporates time-worn textures and a nostalgic quality into each piece. Meticulous details and an acute sensitivity have become the artist’s signature, making his beautiful portraiture instantly recognizable. With an eye for the nuances of emotive expression, C215 captures passing moments of joy and sorrow in the faces of everyday people. A focus on persons oft-overlooked can be expected alongside some surprising turns of work, as well as a few feline faces serving as charming counterparts to the large scale versions painted just last year in Paris and Lisbon.
